On This Day

Your Toronto Blue Jays officially released RHP Pete Walker.

He will always hold a special place in my heart because he was the starting pitcher in the best baseball game I have ever witnessed.

It was reported that he was sent to the Yokohama BayStars of the Japanese League in exchange for cash on Feb. 26... IN JAPAN: Appeared in 10 games (all starts) while posting a record of 2-4 with a ERA of 6.80... Opponents batted at a .330 clip... AT THE PLATE: Batted .167 (2-12), both singles, with two runs scored in 16 plate appearances... Had an on base percentage of .231... ON THE DL: Was placed on the disabled list (vertebra) on July 25 through the remainder of the season... Underwent successful surgery on his vertebra on July 26.

Everything you could possibly want to know about Pete Walker can be found here.  Check out the Transactions Information.  Classic J.P. right there.

Quickly:

This should cure what ails you.  There is some baseball on Rogers Sportsnet the next few days.
