Heating up in Vegas
In case you missed it, Triple-A Las Vegas scored 10 runs in the 5th inning yesterday to rock Colorado Springs (Rockies), 12-7.
Luis Figueroa and Adam Calderone each homered in the big inning. J.P. Arencibia had already launched his 11th homer of the season an inning earlier.
Vegas had been in a huge tailspin, but they've now won three in a row. Figueroa's batting .469 in the month (15-for-32) and Jorge Padilla's at a mere .467 (14-for-30).

Anyone here know how JP is projecting at this point? Career minor leaguer/injury insurance or catcher of the future or somewhere in between?
ReplyDeleteMattt,
ReplyDeleteTough to say. He is the next in line but don't know how he fits in.
Quick look at the stats:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=arenci001jp-
In 195 at bats he has almost as many home runs (12) as walks (14) with a .314 on base percentage.
His defense looks suspect with 9 passed balls in 49 games.
In a hitters league like the PCL, I would think he would be doing a little more.....
